Congratulations to our Haines & Kibblehouse project team on excellence at Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Taxiway P (PAPA) reconfiguration project. PHL’s Taxiway P project received the NCE/AAAE’s 2024 Airfield Project of the Year Award. The taxiway was reconfigured to meet the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines for increased runway-taxiway separation for low visibility operations. Work on Taxiway P began in mid November of 2021 and was completed in November of 2023, on schedule. The scope of work included full depth removal of asphalt and all new construction and realignment; installation of new Portland Cement Concrete (PCC); installation of new underdrain and drainage structures; and installation of new airfield lighting, fixtures and associated electrical work and pavement markings.    #PHL #Aviation #NECAAAE #HainesAndKibblehouse

Today is Administrative Professionals Day and we thank all administrative personnel for their hard work and dedication! There is a lot behind the scenes of construction sites and quarry operations and we cannot thank them enough for all they do.

This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week. With the increase in favorable weather, more and more crews will be on the roads and highways repairing and replacing critical infrastructure. This years campaign is “Work Zones Are Temporary; Actions behind the wheel can last forever.” Let this serve as a reminder not only for the safety of the workers, but for the safety of the motorists as well. In 2022, 742 drivers and their passengers died in work zone related accidents, making it that much more important for drivers to slow down and stay focused while approaching and passing through work zones.    #NWZAW #WorkZoneSafety

On the evening of April 16th, 2024, H&K Group, Inc.’s Pottstown Division successfully placed a new Weiler 2860C Remixing Transfer Vehicle (shuttlebuggy) into service on I476 in the greater Philadelphia area. The 2860C has many incredible features that make it not only more operator and groundman friendly, but also increases productivity and decreases wear and tear on critical parts. Once the machine arrived from Foley, Incorporated at our Skippack HQ the Austin Graphics team got to work immediately on branding. As soon as the branding was complete the machine was delivered to the site where two Weiler representatives met with crews to train them on maintenance, cleaning and operation. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has just released its list of the “Top 100 Producers of Crushed Stone in the United States,” and Skippack, PA based H&K Group, Inc. (H&K) is ranked 26th! This should put things into perspective as far as size difference! On the left is a Kenworth Truck Co. T880 triaxle dump truck and on the right is a Caterpillar 777G. The T880 has a loaded legal weight of 73,280lbs while the 777G, loaded, can weigh up to 363,000lbs. Our Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. (BGC, Inc.) Division recently acquired copies of vintage photos from the mid 1990’s. The former driver of this truck, Walt Davis, took some photos during his travels when he worked for BGC, Inc. before his passing in 1996. The truck was a 1990 tandem axle Mack Superliner that towed around a three axle Rogers lowbed. To this day, BGC, Inc. uses Mack Trucks and Rogers trailers to haul machinery around to sites.    #MackTrucks #MackSuperliner #RogersTrailers #BloomingGlenContractors #HKGroup

Partnering with Rahn’s Construction Material Company, Inc., H&K assisted with the donation, painting and fabrication of the Caterpillar motor seen in these images. The donation was made to the Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center on December 14th, 2023. Rahn’s donated the engine and transmission and their lead mechanic built the setup. H&K’s Austin Autobody shop provided the paint work, Austin Graphics provided the lettering and H&K’s weld shop provided assistance with the cart the engine is mounted to. Rahn’s and H&K employees were on hand to make the donation which will further and assist the education of the Diesel Technology students at the school. A thank you to Dunne’s Towing for providing the transportation of the engine to its new home.
